Hi Keerthi,

Since you are at already at the top of your class, you have no challenge left. Susan Jackson and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi in their book "Flow in Sports: The keys to optimal experiences and performances" explain that to get in the 'zone' and perform at your best (and enjoy it), you need a balance between the challenge and your skill set. If there is no challenge OR you don't have the skills to achieve it, there is no flow, no peak performance.

In your case, you're lacking the challenge or goal.

You might be the best in your class, but what your entire faculty or school? What about your city, state or country? There are countless awards and prizes to be won by top students - scholarships that will pay for your education.

I am a competition squash player and I am constantly looking to play better opponents - it's the only way I can improve my game, skills and abilities. I set myself goals to achieve certain rankings and/or beat certain opponents.

Without goals, you will not achieve your ultimate destiny.

Let me know what your next goal is now that you're the top of your class!

Onward and upward!

Hi Carol,

As I mention in my Speed Learning Video Program, when speed reading, the focus is on reading quickly. Highlighting will only slow your reading down. Highlighting is all about identifying those things you don't think you're going to remember. You can only determine that AFTER reading the chapter. Too many people highlight too much, basically all the material, which makes review inefficient and unproductive.

For each person it's different and WHEN you do the reading and when the exam is will influence your recall/retention.

I hope that helps - more details are in my Speed Learning Video Program with lots of real examples.

Sir,
I am the topper of the class. But for the past 2 years, I just don't take interests in studies and cram everything on the last day. But still,I remain the topper. I know that I can do lots better if I try, but I just don't try.

What should I do to get my interest back?

Please give me some solution to make studies happy for me, like they were in the past!
Yours sincerely,

Keerthi

Mireille,
First, I would suggest you purchase my study book as well as Speed Learning and Speed Reading Video Programs. They will start IMPROVING your results as soon as you get them - ESPECIALLY the Speed Reading Video Program. With practice, you'll be able to read a lot more content, more quickly.

That being said, the one thing I would do because I assume you're from Quebec with a French Canadian Name and Provincial Exam... is to get your hands on past year exams - which are readily available in bookstores. I would DO the past 5 to 10 years of exams - FOCUSING on the reading and math problems... By doing that, you'll be a lot more RELAXED when you eventually do yours.

Good luck!

Hi. I'm an A student, but sometimes I don't feel like I'm studying enough, so I don't know what to expect. There is a big provincial test that is coming up. It will test us on reading, writing and mathematics. What should I do to be sure that I'll get an excellent grade in reading and writing? I can't really study for those two subjects, so what should I do? Please answer this as fast as possible and find the best answer. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Mireille
